Starting quarterbacks named for Wisconsin and Pitt

The Wisconsin Badgers have named fifth-year senior Allan Evridge as their starting quarterback for their season opener on August 30 against the Akron Zips.  Evridge transferred to Wisconsin from Kansas State, where he started seven games as a redshirt freshman and set a freshman record with 1,365 passing yards.  He appeared in seven games last season for the Badgers.  Wisconsin went 9-4 in 2007 under coach Bret Bielema and ended the season with a loss to Tennessee in the Outback Bowl.

Bill Stull was named the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Panthers by coach Dave Wannstedt on Wednesday.  Stull earned the job in camp this season after a thumb injury that required surgery sidelined him for the majority of the 2007 season.  The Panthers had a 5-7 record last year, but beat West Virginia in a memorable game to end the season.  They will host the Falcons of Bowling Green on August 30 at Heinz Field.  The game will be televised by ESPNU.
