College football scheduling is both difficult and strategic. But sometimes it’s just plain weird. In 2008, three Football Bowl Subdivision teams have two consecutive off weeks. Akron, Eastern Michigan and Western Kentucky all have this football schedule anomaly.

On Saturday, the Akron Zips beat the Eastern Michigan Eagles 42-35. They have the next two Saturday’s off before hosting the Toledo Rockets on Wednesday, November 5.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles face the Western Michigan Broncos on November 1. After that game, they have two consecutive byes before traveling to face Temple on November 22.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers actually have three off weeks on their 2008 football schedule. They are off this weekend (10/25). After games against North Texas, Troy and Middle Tennessee, the Hilltoppers are off November 22 and November 29. They play their final game on December 6 at Florida International.
