New Orleans beats Indianapolis 31-17 to win Super Bowl XLIV

The New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 to win Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, Florida (Box Score). Drew Brees, who threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns, was named the Super Bowl MVP.

After falling behind 10-0, the Saints kicked two field goals to go into halftime trailing only 10-6. The Saints then recovered their surprise onside kickoff and scored to take a 13-10 lead. Joseph Addai would later score for the Colts making it 17-13. It would be the last points Indianapolis would score.

New Orleans added a field goal and a Jeremy Shockey touchdown reception to take a 24-17 lead. Late in the fourth quarter, Tracy Porter intercepted a Peyton Manning pass and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown and iced the game for the Saints.
