Illinois, Northwestern to play at Wrigley Field

By Kevin Kelley -

The Illinois Fighting Illini and Northwestern Wildcats will play their November 20, 2010 football game at Wrigley Field in Chicago, the schools announced today.

Northwestern will be the home team for the game, and tickets will be available only to those who purchase Wildcat season tickets.

Illinois leads the overall series against Northwestern 52-46-5. The schools have never met outside of their home stadiums in Champaign and Evanston.

Wrigley Field, built in 1914, is the second oldest stadium in Major League Baseball. Wrigley hasn’t hosted a football game since the Chicago Bears left for Soldier Field following the 1970 NFL season.
