Miami (FL), Toledo schedule 2015-16 football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Miami (FL) Hurricanes and the Toledo Rockets have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2015 and 2016, the University of Toledo has reported.

Miami will travel to face Toledo at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio on September 5, 2015. On September 3, 2016, the Hurricanes will host the Rockets at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

In their first and only contest back in 1987, the Hurricanes beat the Rockets 24-14 at home. Miami went on to win the national championship after defeating Oklahoma in the 1988 Orange Bowl.

The game is a coup of sorts for Toledo. It means they will open their 2015 season at home against an ACC power. On the other hand, Miami will open the season on the road before going home to host Nebraska.

Toledo is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). In 2009, the Rockets finished 5-7. They haven’t participated in a postseason game since the 2005 GMAC Bowl, a 45-13 win over UTEP.

Last week, the Hurricanes announced a 3-game series with Notre Dame. The Hurricanes and Irish will meet at Soldier Field in Chicago in 2012, at South Bend in 2016 and at Miami in 2017.

Some decent teams are playing there also: Arizona (2010), Boise State (2011), Navy (2013), Missouri (2014) and Iowa State (2015). Not sure how Toledo is luring them.

You guys are idiots .. how have the mighty fallen ..Miami has always played great non conference games on the road . The one time they dont play a top ten team you jackasses start bashing them get real dorks ..it’s all about the “U” and always will be remembder that …

we invented swagger….. and some of the greaatest dynasty’s ever

including the best college football team of all time 2001 NC’S AND 2002 ALSO WHEN THE SUCKEYES GOT THE BEST CALL THEY WILL EVER GET FROM A REFEREE

Typical Miami fan. Ridiculous sense of self-importance, lives in the past, boasting about how good they used to be, complete with rampant misconceptions about the importance and “inventions” of that program. Nice name-calling too.

Wake up, fanboy. It’s not the 80’s anymore. It’s been about anything but that lower-case vowel for a while now. Why don’t you try actually winning one of your pre-January bowl games before you run you mouth again.

The “u” is a thing of the past. Deal with it.

Actually, while not a Miami fan,AM impressed by the fairness of the Canes to do a home and away w/Toledo.
Toledo is getting some great games at the Glass Bowl, now thier fans need to show up!
