The LSU Tigers have added the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to their 2011 football schedule, BGDailyNews.com has reported. The game will be played at Tiger Stadium on November 12, 2011.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools. Western Kentucky is a member of the Sun Belt Conference in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Western Kentucky takes the place of Southern Miss, who was removed from the Tigers’ 2011 schedule. LSU was supposed to play Southern Miss in 2009, but the game was moved back to 2010 to make room for a game against ULM. There is no word on when the Southern Miss game will be rescheduled or if it has been canceled altogether.
LSU still has one opening on their 2011 schedule (Sept. 3). 2TheAdvocate.com reported last month that the Tigers could face either Oregon or California at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The Tigers also host Northwestern State on September 10 and travel to face West Virginia on September 24.
The game with LSU completes the 2011 non-conference schedule for Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers face Kentucky in Nashville and host Navy and Indiana State.
