The Navy Midshipmen and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles have scheduled a home-and-home football series, ESPN has reported.
Navy will host Southern Miss in Annapolis on October 8, 2011. Navy’s return trip to face the Golden Eagles in Hattiesburg has not been announced yet. This will be the first meeting between the schools.
Navy, an independent, finished the 2009 season with a 10-4 record and a win over Missouri in the Texas Bowl. Southern Miss, a member of Conference USA, ended 2009 with a 7-6 record and lost to Middle Tennessee in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
The addition of Southern Miss completes Navy’s 2011 football schedule. The Midshipmen also host Air Force and East Carolina and travel to South Carolina, Rutgers and Notre Dame.
Southern Miss’ 2011 non-conference schedule is now complete. They host Louisiana Tech and Southeastern Louisiana and travel to face Virginia.
To make room for Navy, the Golden Eagles’ 2011 game at LSU was moved to September 3, 2016.
