Maryland, Texas schedule 2017-18 football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Maryland Terrapins and the Texas Longhorns have agreed to a home-and-home football series in 2017 and 2018, Texas has announced.

The Longhorns will host the Terrapins at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on September 2, 2017. On September 1, 2018, Texas will travel to face Maryland, likely at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Texas is 3-0 all-time against Maryland. The Longhorns won both games of a home-and-home in 1959 and 1960, and then defeated the Terrapins in the 1978 Sun Bowl in El Paso.

The Longhorns’ 2017 non-conference schedule is now complete with home games against Maryland and UCF and a road game at USC. In 2018, Texas will host USC and will travel to Maryland. One more game is needed to complete the 2018 schedule.

For the Terrapins, they will travel to Texas and host West Virginia in 2017. The 2018 home game against Texas is the first scheduled for that year.

Why is Maryland backing down to texas on playing at home? Granted Byrd has been in need of an upgrade for years but its comming. I dont like the thought of shipping games out of Byrd.
