USF adds UTEP, FAMU to future non-conference football schedules

By Tim K. -

On Tuesday, USF AD Doug Woolard announced that the Bulls of the Big East have added the UTEP Miners of Conference USA and the Florida A&M Rattlers of the MEAC to their future non-conference schedules.

The Bulls and Miners will meet on September 24, 2011 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in the only game of the series. The meeting will be the first matchup between the schools.

South Florida will host FAMU on September 17, 2011 and September 5, 2015 at Raymond James Stadium. The Bulls beat the Rattlers 37-3 in 2005 in their first and only meeting.

With the addition of UTEP and FAMU, the 2011 non-conference football schedule for USF is now complete. The Bulls have a road game at Notre Dame and home games against Ball State, FAMU, UTEP and Miami (FL).

For 2015, USF’s non-conference schedule consists of games at Indiana and at Florida with three slots to fill.

UTEP’s 2011 non-conference schedule includes the game at USF and a home game with New Mexico State. The Miners still need two more games.

Kansas website is showing UTEP not on the schedule for 2011. Makes sense, since USF is in the same slot (Sep 24) that Kansas was previously in.

Thanks, I edited the article. Kansas had 13 games in 2011 with the new Big 12, so looks they have moved UTEP out. Game is now TBA.
