BYU announces 2011 football schedule

The BYU Cougars have announced their 2011 football schedule, which features games against Ole Miss, Oregon State, Texas, UCF and Utah.

BYU announced their schedule this evening on BYUtv. 2011 marks the first year that Brigham Young will play as an independent in football.

The Cougars open the 2011 season at Ole Miss on September 3, followed by a trip to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns on September 10.

BYU then plays four straight home games against Utah (09/17), UCF (09/23), Utah State (09/30) and San Jose State (10/08).

The Cougars then travel to Oregon State (10/15) and then return home to host Idaho State (10/22). After an off week, BYU travels to Louisiana Tech (11/05) and then hosts Idaho (11/12) and New Mexico State (11/19).

After their second off week, BYU completes the 2011 regular season at Hawaii on December 3.

Although the Cougars had the option, they did not schedule a 13th game in 2011 (see The Hawaii Exemption).
