Auburn to host Washington State in 2013

By Kevin Kelley -

The Auburn Tigers will host the Washington State Cougars during the 2013 season, the Seattle Times has reported. An exact date for the game has not been announced.

It appears that this will be a one-game contract and not a home-and-home series. The only meeting between these two schools occurred in 2006, a 40-14 win for Auburn at home.

Auburn is also scheduled to host Jacksonville State in 2013. The SEC has not released their future scheduling rotation yet, but the Tigers should face their normal slate of Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, plus two SEC East teams.

For the Cougars, this is their first non-conference game scheduled for 2013. With the new Pac-12 scheduling format, Washington State will face California, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford and Washington, plus four Pac-12 South schools that have yet to be determined.

I’d like to see Auburn and Washington Huskies play a Home and Home personally.

It’s probably a big risk (i.e. Loss) for WSU, but as a student it’s nice to see the attempt to compete with an SEC school (albeit I’d love to see WSU/Florida Gators – here)!
Seriously though, while tough to get a win, I like to see this. Perhaps Penn State (forget the controversy stuff), Michigan, or Miami in the future?

WSU could be really pretty good by then; this season will show a lot but Coach Mike Leach makes things happen. Excited to see this.
