Nevada, Oregon State tentatively agree to 2017-18 football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Nevada Wolf Pack and the Oregon State Beavers have tentatively agreed to a 2017-18 home-and-home football series, RGJ.com has reported. Dates and sites for the two games were not announced.

The games against the Beavers would be the first non-conference games scheduled for Nevada in both 2017 and 2018. Oregon State travels to Minnesota in 2017 and hosts the Golden Gophers in 2018.

Oregon State leads the overall series against Nevada 3-0. The two schools last met in 1999 in Reno, a 28-13 victory for the Beavers.

Tony…actually the majority of the games scheduled in the future do indeed get played. Dropping games isn’t lightly considered as they are considered contracts and the team that drops first generally has to do a pay out….say Nevada was scheduled to play N. Arizona and agreed to pay them 150,000….then Oregon State offers do to do a H and A where as each team is guranteed a 350k payday….Nevada could drop NAU but have to pay them at least 75k or in some cases in lieu of cash, help the Lumberjack’s AD to find another game.

hope this helps.

Its better they schedule each other than play like Portland State and Northern Arizona. If it falls through no biggie.
