Tulane announces 2011 football schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Tulane Green Wave have announced their 2011 football schedule, which includes games against Army, Duke, Syracuse, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis and SMU.

Tulane opens the season on September 3 with a non-conference home game against Southeastern Louisiana. The Green Wave have four more non-conference games: September 24 at Duke, October 1 at Army, October 8 at home against Syracuse and November 26 at Hawaii.

Tulane has scheduled an extra non-conference game in 2011 due to the Hawaii Exemption. The NCAA rule allows teams that play at Hawaii to offset travel costs to the island by scheduling an additional game. Tulane will play a total of 13 games in 2011 without an off week.

The Green Wave open Conference USA play on September 10 at the Louisiana Superdome against Tulsa. The rest of their C-USA schedule includes at UAB (09/17), UTEP (10/15), Memphis (10/22), at East Carolina (10/29), at SMU (11/05), Houston (11/12) and at Rice (11/19).

The Conference USA Championship Game will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 and will be hosted by the team with the highest winning percentage in conference play.
