By Kevin Kelley -

The Georgia Bulldogs have added the South Alabama Jaguars to their 2014 football schedule, AL.com has reported.

The game will be played at Sanford Stadium in Athens on November 8, 2014. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Georgia’s 2014 non-conference football schedule is now complete. The Bulldogs also host Clemson, Georgia Tech and Charleston Southern.

South Alabama’s 2014 schedule also includes home games vs. Mississippi State and Navy and a trip to Kent State.

Of course, I preface this statement as a Georgia fan. If the SEC scheduling format stays the same in 2014, this what Georgia’s schedule will look like:

Home SEC: LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Home Non-Conf: Clemson, Charleston Southern, South Alabama
Road SEC: Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina
Road Non-Conf: Georgia Tech
Neutral: Florida

In most years, there is no reason for SEC teams to play really tough non-conference schedules. When Florida won their 2 BCS titles, they played 4 pretty awful teams. Georgia will always play Georgia Tech, and then in 2014 they also have Clemson. But look at their SEC schedule…it’s brutal.

Kevin,
C’mon now…not every SEC team is a powerhouse…I mean,Vandy and Kentucky are pretty weak,Ole Miss,Miss. State,So. Carolina and even Arkansas are pretty cycle driven…good every 2-4 years depending on the class. LSU,Alabama,Auburn,UGa and Florida are the only 5 teams that truly strong year in,year out,I would count UT in that list but with probation most likely coming thier way….

Point is,I dug Richt’s recent scheduling..Arizona State,Oklahoma State,Colorado…all good games against BCS caliber schools.
To regress to the likes of Idaho State,South Alabama and Charleston Southern…

u guys play small school, and that makes non conference schedules 4-0, or u could teams like ohio st, michigan, stanford, bc, USC!!!!!!!!!!!!!. i will give lsu some respect of playing at washington not easy, then playing at oregon the loudest stadiumin the courtney!!!! fight on

Georgia plays some better non-conference teams than most SEC schools:

2011 – Boise State, at Georgia Tech
2012 – Georgia Tech
2013 – at Clemson, at Georgia Tech
2014 – Clemson, Georgia Tech

They play GT every year. Also have a 2020-21 home and home set with Ohio State.
