Boise State officially a member of the Mountain West Conference

The Boise State Broncos are now officially a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Broncos announced their move to the MWC last June.

Boise State opens their 2011 season on September 3 in the Chick-fil-A College Kickoff against the Georgia Bulldogs. The game will be televised by ESPN at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The Broncos’ first Mountain West game is October 15 at Colorado State. That game will be televised by The Mtn. at 6:00 p.m. ET. Check out Boise State’s 2011 football schedule for the complete list of games, time and TV.

Boise State dominated during their ten seasons in the Western Athletic Conference, winning the title six times and sharing the title twice. The other two seasons resulted in a second place finish.

Their time in the WAC also resulted in two BCS Bowl berths. The Broncos played in the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl twice, beating Oklahoma 43-42 in 2007 and TCU 17-10 in 2010.

Prior to the WAC, Boise State as a member of the Big West Conference from 1996 through 2000. The Broncos won the BWC title in their final two seasons.
