There are still numerous rumors about a possible BYU invitation to the Big-12 as early as 2013. Typically a program that is truly committed to being independent will have 9-10 games for 2013 firmed up by this point. Many including myself are suspicious that Tom Holmoe is firming up dates he knows BYU can keep and is trying to limit any financial losses incurred should Dan Beebe and his league school presidents hand BYU an invitation they would jump at. I think all the rumors that keep showing up on BYU fan sites are just that and many school AD’s don’t want to sign up for something that will possibly end up as a broken deal since they have theri tenticals everywhere and know BYU is a serious Big-12 possability.

The Pac 12 was stupid not to take BYU. I know the whole religion mess but BYU has a national following.
