Oregon State completes 2014 Non-conference Football Schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Oregon State Beavers have completed their 2014 non-conference football schedule with the addition of the Portland State Vikings, the school announced today.

Oregon State will open the 2014 season against Portland State at home on August 30. OSU leads the overall series 3-0.

The following week (09/06), the Beavers will travel to Honolulu to face the Hawaii Warriors. The two schools have met eight times with Oregon State holding a 5-3 advantage. In their last meeting in 2008, the Beavers trounced the Warriors 45-7 in Corvallis.

OSU’s final non-conference game in 2014 is at home on September 20 against the San Diego State Aztecs. SDSU leads the series against OSU 2-1. The teams haven’t played since a 35-3 win for the Beavers in 2000.

The Beavers do not plan on playing a 13th game in 2014, which is allowed due to the Hawaii Exemption. The NCAA rule states that any team traveling to play in Hawaii may play an extra game to offset travel costs.

I am so tired of playing lower division teams. What’s wrong with playing big 10, big 12 or sec? We’ve decided to pass on all pre season games this year and next year because it’s not worth the ticket prices. Okay, maybe the first game of the season to see where you are but 3! Let’s don’t be wimpy like th sec.
