Can AU find someone other than ULM to play? I know all teams play 2 or 3 mid-majors and I have no problem with that but Auburn plays Monroe too often. How about Louisiana Lafayette, Ohio, Wyoming, Toledo or someone other than ULM!

I am a life-long Auburn fan and a current Auburn University student so I try to support Auburn’s decisions regarding scheduling. But in this case I completely agree with you. Auburn has played ULM four times since 2003. ULM has scored a combined 10 points in those last four meetings. Since every team schedules 1 or 2 “light” games a year I wish Auburn would pick more teams from the MAC or C-USA just to spark a slight interest. However, since most small schools agree to play the big AQ teams purely because of the payout my guess is that the scheduling has to do with wanting the road team (small school) to have less expense traveling. This is why they choose teams in the same region and why you see so many SEC schools scheduling Sun-Belt teams. That said, it’s never good to underestimate any opponent (see: App. State – Michigan, ULM – Alabama, Ole Miss – JSU). Just a thought.

ULM needs the money but so does Troy, UAB and South Alabama. They are even closer to home.
