By Kevin Kelley -

The LSU Tigers have added a game against Towson to their 2012 football schedule, Towson announced today.

LSU will host the Towson Tigers at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on September 29, 2012. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

The addition of Towson completes the non-conference portion of LSU’s 2012 football schedule. The Tigers also host North Texas (Sept. 1), Washington (Sept. 8) and Idaho (Sept. 15).

LSU opens the 2011 season on Saturday, September 3 against the Oregon Ducks (8:00 p.m. ET – ABC). The game will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Agreed, Bruce. I’m not privy to a list of FCS/BCS teams having an opening on 9/29/12 but you’d think LSU would have tried to get a higher profile opponent… if not a mid-major then a regional FCS team like Southern or Grambling as you mention or a FCS powerhouse like a Delaware, Montana or Appy State. Oh, and um… just checked – Boise State has yet to find an opponent for 9/29/12. Hmmmmmm.

As a TU grad who grew up on SU games…I used to be in munford/mumford (sp) stadium every weekend as a young boy. It’s disheartening that they do overlook SU or GSU(as much as I hate to admit it) to play other small schools..but didn’t they just play Mcneese St a couple yrs back…and UL Monroe too? It’s not like they can’t or wo’t play smaller schools in LA. However it is exciting to see these schools play each other for me on a personal level.

wH Why did not the “Jefferson” coach not ask for the best 2 out of 3 just incase lsu losses in n/o… he sucks because of the way he did Lee. nothing walking on 2 legs could treat a kid that way.

As a Towson Grad, I was just thrilled to have our Tigers play in Baton Rougue. I love Louisiana and visit often (but not Baton Rouge). My son works in Lafayette. We are making plans now for the trip. Can any of you make some suggestions on places to eat, drink ect.? We’d love any tips you can give. Good Luck against Alabama! Thanks, Jm–
