Auburn adds Alabama A&M to 2012 Football Schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Auburn Tigers have added the Alabama A&M Bulldogs to their 2012 football schedule, AL.com has reported.

Auburn will host Alabama A&M at Jordan-Hare Stadium on November 17, 2012. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools and the first for the Bulldogs against a team from the SEC.

Alabama A&M is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision. The last SWAC title for the Bulldogs was in 2006.

Auburn opens the 2012 season on Sept. 1 against the Clemson Tigers in the Chick-fil-A College Kickoff in Atlanta. The Tigers also host McNeese State on Nov. 3 and ULM (date TBA).

Don’t mind giving the 500K to another state school but why is Auburn playing McNeese State too? Damn!

Now let’s see Ole Miss play Jackson State and LSU play either Southern or Grambling. South Carolina played South Carolina State, right? LSU plays all the other 1 aa local teams so why not?

Alabama is welcoming Western Carolina to the capstone again same day in 2012 I believe. And again in 2014.

But 2 1AA games in one year is foolish to say the least. I have no problem with playing Alabama A&M. I would much rather keep the money in state than playing McNeese State but I see no reason to play both!

I guess scheduling 2 division 1 AA games in advance beats scheduling a major opponent like Florida State and paying $500,000 not to play them like Auburn did 7 months prior to the 1999 scheduled Florida State-Auburn game.

Dear Bruce, Auburn doesn’t have the guts to play the calber of teams LSU plays. Saturday night LSU plays 12th ranked West Virginia making them the 3rd team ranked in the top 15 out of LSU’s first 4 games including a season opener with #3 ranked Oregon. 2 of those 3 top 15 teams are out of conference teams LSU did not have to play. Auburn played one out of conference team who was unranked at the time, and that team was Clemson who beat them. That is why Auburn scheduled 2 division 1 AA games for 2012.

I think that this is amazing for Alabama A & M tp play Auburn. I am a Bulldog alumnus, and really looking forward to attending the game. I am sure it will be an experience for both teams.

With SEC going to 13 or 14 teams next season, there will be 9 conference games. McNeese State will be dropped. As far as Auburn chickening out of playing FSU in 1999, you Bama fans cant really say a word. Bama postponed playing Penn State in 2003 or 2004 because UAT realized they were gonna be killed by lions if they played back then. Bama rescheduled those games 8 years later. PSU should have dropped you guys to be just like you, but PSU has class, unlike UAT

seriously? Auburn regularly has one of the toughest schedules each year.. 2nd hardest this year… 12th hardest last year (only because we had more home games and didn’t have to play florida who was crap but had to play alabama, georgia, arkansas, lsu, clemson, miss st. who are all as good this year as they were last year…) the cupcakes are to have time to heal players in between the brutal sec games and prepare for the team the following week… it’s all planned it’s not just to squeak by

Wouldn’t it be great if A&M gave Auburn a really good game. Who know’s what will happen
