The Alabama Crimson Tide are the 2012 BCS National Champions after their 21-0 win over the LSU Tigers. It was the first shutout ever in a BCS game.

Jeremy Shelley kicked five field goals for the Tide and Trent Richardson scored the lone touchdown in the game on a 34-yard run late in the fourth quarter. Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, the offensive MVP, completed 23 of 34 passes for 234 yards.

Alabama’s no. 1 ranked defense was the story of the game. They held the no. 1 ranked LSU Tigers to a total of 92 yards and no points.

The Crimson Tide won their second BCS title in three years under head coach Nick Saban. Alabama won the 2010 Citi BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl with a 37-21 victory over Texas.

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson had a forgettable night. He completed only 11 of 17 passes for 53 yards and had one interception. Jefferson also rushed 14 times for only 15 yards.
