Navy Midshipmen announce 2012 Football Schedule

Navy MidshipmenThe Navy Midshipmen have announced their 2012 football schedule, which is highlighted by games against Notre Dame (at Dublin, Ireland), Air Force, Army and Penn State.

Navy opens the 2012 season against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sept. 1. The two schools will meet at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The meeting in Ireland will be the second for Navy and Notre Dame. The two schools played in the Emerald Isle Classic in Croke Park in 1996.

After an off week, the Midshipmen travel to face the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sept. 15. PSU leads the overall series 18-17-1, but the two schools haven’t met since 1974.

Navy then hosts consecutive home games against VMI (Sept. 22) and San Jose State (Sept. 29) before traveling to face Air Force (Oct. 6) and Central Michigan (Sept. 13).

Indiana visits Annapolis on Oct. 20 for the first time ever. The game will also be homecoming for Navy.

The Midshipmen then travel to East Carolina (Oct. 27), host Florida Atlantic (Nov. 3), travel to Troy (Nov. 10) and host Texas State (Nov. 17).

After a two week break comes the 2012 Army-Navy Game presented by USAA. The game will be played at Loncoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Dec. 8.

Navy leads the overall series against Army 56-49-7 and has won a series record ten games in a row.

  • 10/27 – at East Carolina
  • 11/03 – Florida Atlantic
  • 11/10 – at Troy
  • 11/17 – Texas State
  • 12/08 – Army (at Philadelphia, PA)

Looking forward to SJSU’s first trip to Navy next year. And couldn’t be more happy to get them AFTER they play Norte Dame and Penn State. Hopefully they’ll be a little banged up by then and we can upset them again….
