Duke Blue DevilsThe Duke Blue Devils 2012 non-conference football schedule was completed today after North Carolina Central officially announced they will visit Wallace Wade Stadium on Sept. 15.

Duke and North Carolina Central’s first and only meeting was on Sept. 26, 2009. The Blue Devils won that game 49-14. The NCCU Eagles are a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the FCS.

Barring any last minute changes with the upcoming ACC schedule, Duke will open the 2012 season at home on Sept. 1 against Florida International. The two schools met last year in Miami in the first game of a home-and-home series. Duke managed to slip by FIU 31-27.

The following week, Duke heads West to take on the Stanford Cardinal in the final game of a two-game set. Stanford rolled over Duke 44-14 last season in Durham.

After hosting North Carolina Central on Sept. 15, the Memphis Tigers visit Durham on Sept. 22. The game will be the first ever between the two schools and is part of a 2012-13 home-and-home series announced in October 2010.

The first sentence should read “they will visit the Duke campus on September 15th.” North Carolina Central is located in Durham a mere 5 miles from Wallace Wade Stadium. Very convenient matchup.
