Oklahoma to host Florida A&M in 2012

By Kevin Kelley -

Oklahoma SoonersThe Oklahoma Sooners are likely to host the Florida A&M Rattlers in 2012, the Orlando Sentinel has reported.

While searching for a non-conference opponent for his own school, Florida State senior associate athletics director noticed in a “internal site” that Oklahoma has added FAMU to its schedule for Sept. 8, 2012.

If the game is officially announced, it would be the first meeting between the two schools. It would also mean that the Sooners need only one more non-conference game to complete their 2012 football schedule.

Last week, reports indicated that Oklahoma could open the season against the UTEP Miners. The Sooners are already slated to host Notre Dame at Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium on Oct. 27.

Yesterday OU announced their 2012 Big 12 schedule. The Sooners open conference play at home on Sept. 22 against the Kansas State Wildcats.

Update (10:30 a.m.): FAMU has officially announced their 2012 football schedule which includes the Sept. 8 game at Oklahoma.
