CBS to televise Navy-Notre Dame from Aviva Stadium in Ireland

CBS announced this afternoon that they will televised Navy vs. Notre Dame at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 1. The game will be played at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The broadcast team will feature Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson in the booth while Tracy Wolfson will report from the sidelines. Local time in Ireland at kickoff will be 2 p.m.

Aviva Stadium opened on May 14, 2010 and seats 51,700. The stadium is home to the Irish Rugby Football Union and the Republic of Ireland national football team.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lead the overall series against the Navy Midshipmen 72-12-1. However, Navy has won three of the last five meetings, two of which were in South Bend.

Navy and Notre Dame last played in Dublin, Ireland on November 2, 1996. The Fighting Irish won that game 54-27.

Yes, it’s Navy’s home game. Notre Dame wouldn’t give up a home game, and won’t play in Navy’s stadium, so Navy has to move them somewhere else, usually Baltimore.

Wow, if i can get up by 6am (California time) I can watch 5 games in a row that day. Tooo bad Hawaii is on the road, it could’ve been 6,
