The Northwestern Wildcats have added future non-conference football games against Western Michigan and Eastern Illinois and dropped a game against Army, the school announced this week.

Northwestern will host Eastern Illinois at Ryan Field in Evanston, IL on Sept. 12, 2015. The game completed their 2015 football schedule, which was officially announced on Tuesday.

Other non-conference games for Northwestern in 2015 include vs. Stanford (Sept. 5), at Duke (Sept. 19) and vs. Ball State (Sept. 26). Big Ten match-ups include home games vs. Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue and road games at Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Northwestern was scheduled to host Army in 2015, but that game was replaced by the contest against Eastern Illinois.

The Wildcats will open the 2016 season at home against Western Michigan on Sept. 3. The game, which will be the first ever meeting between the two schools, completed Northwestern’s 2016 football schedule. The 2016 slate also includes non-conference games against Illinois State (Sept. 10), Duke (Sept. 17) and at Stanford (Sept. 24).

In Big Ten play, the Wildcats will host Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Nebraska and travel to Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Purdue.

Western Michigan, who was previously scheduled to host Illinois to open the 2016 season, now opens at Northwestern. There has been no announcement on whether the Illinois-Western Michigan game has been postponed or cancelled altogether.

Is there any real reason why army was dropped? It seems that the change is a push at best for them.

I guess the purple penis eaters are reluctant to get embarrassed by Army again like they were last season.

Bummer about Army. It would be a great game, but they’re definitely not a sure win and they’re getting much better year after year. Apparently, they don’t want a ND-Navy debacle.

Apparently Northwestern doesn’t want to get embarressed again by Army. Sucks though, was pretty excited to see Army/NW at Northwestern.
