Navy and South Alabama have mutually agreed to cancel their football games in 2015 and 2016, USA assistant athletic director Haven Fields confirmed today.

The Midshipmen and the Jaguars agreed to a four-game, home-and-home football series back in 2008, with games slated each season from 2013 through 2016.

Dates of the contests that have been canceled are Nov. 14, 2015 at Navy and Nov. 12, 2016 at South Alabama.

The two schools will still play the front half of the contract. Those two games are currently scheduled for Nov. 16, 2013 in Annapolis and Nov. 22, 2014 in Mobile.

With Navy set to join the Big East in 2015, the Middies are eliminating several non-conference games for that season forward. Last month, Navy posted a tentative 2015 non-conference schedule on their website and the South Alabama game was not included.

Navy still has 2-3 games on their 2015 schedule that will need to be canceled or postponed: at Texas State (9/19), vs. Toledo (10/17), at Syracuse (date unknown). One of these games could still be played since Navy travels to Hawaii in 2015. Teams that travel to Hawaii are allowed to schedule a 13th game under the Hawaii Exemption.
