By Kevin Kelley -

Duke-NC-CentralDuke University and North Carolina Central University announced today that they have extended the Bull City Gridiron Classic football series.

Duke and N.C. Central, who meet this Saturday, are scheduled to play future games at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Duke won the only previous meeting 49-14 on Sept. 26, 2009.

“Without question, our continuing football series with N.C. Central – the Bull City Gridiron Classic – underscores an exciting relationship for both institutions and the greater Durham community,” said Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White. “Bringing the two campuses together in this fashion has tremendous value, and we are just thrilled to participate in this meaningful partnership.  We look forward to many more years of exciting football with our Durham neighbors.”

Both schools are located in Durham, North Carolina and are separated by only about five miles. The NCCU Eagles are a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the FCS.

Really convenient for both schools. It’s a wonder this didn’t happen sooner. Have they always been FCS? or just recently?

Those Duke people are smart. They realize 1-11 looks a heck of a lot better than 0-12 on their all-time records page.
