The UAB Blazers have finalized their 2013 non-conference football schedule, the school announced on Friday.
UAB will open the 2013 season at in-state foe Troy on Aug. 31. The Blazers lost to the Trojans last month 39-29 and trail 6-4 in the overall series.
The following week (Sept. 7), UAB heads to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers. In their only prior meeting, UAB upset LSU 13-10 at Tiger Stadium in 2000.
On Sept. 21, UAB hosts their only non-conference game at Legion Field in Birmingham against the Northwestern State Demons. The contest will be the first ever between the two schools.
UAB wraps up the non-conference portion of their 2013 schedule on Sept. 28 at Vanderbilt. The Blazers are 0-1 against the Commodores after falling 31-15 back in 1996.
The Blazers also announced that their previously scheduled home-and-home series against Mississippi State has been reduced to a one-game contract. UAB was set to host MSU on Sept. 7, 2013, but that game has been canceled. The Blazers will still travel to face Mississippi State on Sept. 6, 2014.
