The Miami Hurricanes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are set to begin a football series in 2014. But the series may not be played as agreed to, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

Miami and Nebraska, which agreed to the home-and-home series back in 2008, are set to meet in Lincoln in 2014 and in Miami in 2015. Sources told the Journal Star that the series “may be in jeopardy.”

Nebraska athletics director Tom Osborne responded to the rumors by stating that the Cornhuskers remain “committed to the series.”

“As of right now, it’s still on, as far as I know,” Osborne said. “We’ll just have to see how that all plays out.”

Obviously, Miami is the party that is contemplating whether to play the series since Nebraska is now on record as wanting to keep it.

In other Nebraska scheduling news, the 2013 Southern Miss game now has a fourth option for a host site. The game is currently slated for Sept. 7 in Hattiesburg, MS, but it had been rumored to be moving to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Then earlier this month, the Journal Star reported it could be played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

“It was really at the request of Southern Miss that we took a look at the Chiefs as well,” Osborne said. “So I don’t know how it’s all going to play out. We have to get the financial details ironed out.”

“We don’t know for sure where that game’s going to be played, whether it’s New Orleans, Kansas City or even Hattiesburg (Miss.).”

Now you can throw a fourth city into the mix — Lincoln, Nebraska. The Journal Star revealed today that Nebraska could host the game, which would give them eight home contests in 2013.

“It’s pretty much at Southern Miss’ discretion as to where we play this game,” Osborne said Friday. “It’s still not finalized, but we have had some discussions (about playing in Lincoln).”

Probably because Nebraska doesn’t want to play Miami. Its a sure loss for the cornflakers so now they wanna back out and schedule Utah tech or some other cupcake.

Joe didn’t read the article, apparently. Nebraska is on record as wanting to keep the games. Perhaps the Hurri”cants” are unable to secure enough out of state work release permits to go to Lincoln.

DIDNT WE BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE CORN FLAKERS FOR A NATIONAL TITLE IF I REMEMBER CORRECT IN 2002? THIS IS WHY THEY DONT WANNA PLAY “THE U”

That was 11 years ago dude, The Pen, oh wait, I mean The “U”, has had 10 or 11 prison sentences handed down in that time… keep supporting your criminals and we’ll keep making cornflakes!!!

Weird how those “criminals” keep turning out to be some of the best players in football for the last 20 years or so. Seems all the recognition for the cornflakes is a dude that stomps on people and kicks others in the balls and then acts like a soccer player..”I didn’t do nothin”. Haters gonna hate, let us know when you stop getting us confused with the Gators.

Yall Nebraska fans living in la la land. When the last Miami player to be arrested? I’ll let you know when. Before the season started. Only reason Miami has this rep is because of the media. Mad a little school rose to power trashing the likes of ND OU UF FSU Cornhuskers which we beat for like 3 titles? Nebraska would be wise to back out this series or it will be just like 2001 all over again. Over before halftime
