The San Diego State Aztecs have added future football games against California, New Mexico State, and San Jose State, the school announced today.

Agreements with California and New Mexico State call for home-and-home series, while SDSU and San Jose State will play a total of three games.

San Diego State will travel to face Cal at California Memorial Stadium in Berkley on Sept. 12, 2015. The Aztecs will then host the Golden Bears at Qualcomm Stadium on Sept. 10, 2016.

SDSU and Cal have met six times and the series is even at three games apiece. The two schools haven’t played since 1996.

The Aztecs will travel to face New Mexico State at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces on Sept. 28, 2013. SDSU had been scheduled to face San Jose State in 2013 (Sept. 14), but the game was moved back to 2016 to make room for the trip to NMSU. The Aggies will be an FBS Independent beginning with the 2013 season.

New Mexico State will travel to San Diego State on Sept. 24, 2016 to complete the other half of the home-and-home series. SDSU leads the all-time series against NMSU 8-1-1.

The 2013 NMSU game completes San Diego State’s 2013 non-conference schedule. After opening at home vs. Eastern Illinois, San Diego State travels to face Ohio State on Sept. 7 and then hosts Oregon State on Sept. 21.

With their 2013 meeting pushed back, San Diego State and San Jose State will next meet on Sept. 13, 2014 at Qualcomm. The Aztecs will then travel to face the Spartans at Spartan Stadium in San Jose on Sept. 26, 2015 and again on Sept. 17, 2016.

San Diego State and San Jose State have met 36 times since 1935. The Spartans lead the series 19-15-2, which includes their 38-34 victory over the Aztecs on Sept. 22.

I rather SJSU be playing the Aztecs as a conference foe….this has turned into quite a rivalry as both programs are starting to get their mojo back…

SDSU and SJSU didnt even play each other in 2009, 2010, or 2011 nor will they play in 2013. That’s a strange definition of “quite a rivalry”.
