The Boston College Eagles have added a game against New Mexico State to their 2013 football schedule and will open the season vs. Stony Brook, several sources have reported.

The Stony Brook Seawolves will visit Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill to open the 2013 season on Aug. 31. This matchup was previously reported, but the date was recently reported by Newsday writer Greg Logan (via BCInterruption.com).

Stony Brook, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association in the FCS, has never faced Boston College in football.

Boston College will also host New Mexico State in 2013 according to the Boston Globe. A date for the game was not announced, but it will likely fall on Nov. 9, Nov. 16, or Nov. 23. The game will also be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

New Mexico State will be an FBS Independent beginning with the 2013 football season. The Aggies have been a member of the WAC since 2005, but the conference will no longer sponsor football.

The addition of of New Mexico State completes the 2013 non-conference slate for BC. After opening against Stony Brook, the Eagles travel to USC (Sept. 14), host Army (Oct. 5), and later host NMSU.

The 2013 ACC schedule has not yet been released, but most of the opponents are known. If the conference scheduling format remains the same, BC will host Florida State, NC State, and Wake Forest and will travel to Clemson, Maryland, and Virginia Tech. The Eagles will also face new ACC member Syracuse and a Coastal Division team to be announced.

Update (2/7/13)

New Mexico State has announced their 2013 football schedule, and Boston College will travel to Las Cruces on Nov. 9. It was previously reported that Boston College would host NMSU.

Great article, and thanks for the plug.

If the ACC schedule rotation holds, have to think that Syracuse will be a road game. I doubt the ACC would give a team 4 division home games and just 2 road games.

I really wish the ACC would go with a North/South arrangement with the new additions. I can’t stand the Coastal/Atlantic mess.

PNB – if we went with a N/S setup, the divisions would be to stacked. Having Miami, GT, Clemson, & FSU in the same division just doesn’t add up to a competitive championship game. (granted this year would have been a good one – UNC vs. FSU but probation screwed that up).

Nick, I understand what you are saying.
The SEC West had been superior to the East over the past 5 years. The East was as good or better from top to bottom this year. It goes in cycles. Granted Pitt, Syracuse and Boston College are not Florida, Tennessee and Georgia historically but that is not to say they can not contend for the ACC title in the near future. Louisville would also be in the North and that would help balance the divisions. They will be a much stronger football program than Maryland.

Glad to see that NMSU is able to fill the holes in the schedule until they can enter the conference formerly known as the Big East.

I notice the schedules have the BC-NMSU game in Las Cruces. Is this correct? Did the little guy actually get a one and done from BC? Awesome.
