Louisiana Tech BulldogsThe Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have announced their 2013 non-conference football schedule, which features games against NC State and Kansas.

Tech opens the 2013 season at the NC State Wolfpack of the ACC on Aug. 31. The two schools have never met on the football field.

The following week, the Bulldogs host their only non-conference game at home against the Lamar Cardinals. Lamar is a member of the Southland Conference in the FCS. Louisiana Tech leads the overall series 17-5, but the two haven’t played since a 1986 contest in Beaumont.

On Sept. 21, the Bulldogs travel to face the Kansas Jayhawks of the Big 12. Louisiana Tech won the first meeting 16-11 back in 1987, but Kansas won the next two 34-14 in 2005 and 29-0 in 2008.

Louisiana Tech’s final non-conference game of the season is against Army in the 2013 Heart of Dallas Kickoff Classic on Sept. 28. The game, which was initially scheduled for Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, will be played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

Louisiana Tech was slated to play at Houston in 2013, but that game was canceled along with a 2014 visit by the Cougars. That opened the door for Lamar to return to the schedule.

The 2013 season will be the first for Louisiana Tech in Conference USA. The full C-USA schedule will likely be announced early next year.
