Navy Midshipmen post 2016 Non-Conference Football Schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

Navy MidshipmenThe Navy Midshipmen have posted their 2016 non-conference football schedule to their official website, which includes games against Air Force, Army, and Notre Dame.

Navy is set to open the 2016 season at home against the Fordham Rams on Sept. 3. After playing at Air Force on Oct. 1, the Midshipmen face Notre Dame at a site to be determined on Nov. 5.

Their final non-conference game will be the 117th edition of the Army-Navy game. The annual rivalry game will be played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD.

Navy, which is set to join the Big East in 2015, has had to modify their future schedules from 2015 forward. A few games were postponed, but most have been canceled.

The Middies were originally scheduled to host UAB on Sept. 24, 2016, but that game and all games except Army, Air Force, and Notre Dame, have been cleared from their schedules, according to the Navy athletic department.

A 2021-22 series with Marshall was added recently, and a return game at Southern Miss in 2019 remains for the time being.

Kind of surprised Navy is still planning on joining the Big East, I guess now it will be a little easier to win in. Though there will still be good teams, just not as many big names. There will be still TV money which probably why they are still joining. I wonder if Army will change its mind since the league will not be perceived as strong and that was their rumored reason for not joining with Navy. Maybe Army is waiting to see if the money is worth it. If I were the Big East I would be eyeing UNC-Charlotte and Old Dominion for the future.

I am planning on attending my 80th reunion of the Class of 1956. Does anyone know what game, I will be attending?
