The Florida State Seminoles and the Boise State Broncos have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2019 and 2020, both schools announced today.

Florida State will host the first game of the series at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Sept. 7, 2019. The second and final game of the series will take place at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho on Sept. 12, 2020.

This is the second future home-and-home series that Boise State has scheduled against an ACC team. Last week, the Broncos announced a 2015 & 2017 series against the Virginia Cavaliers.

Boise State is the second scheduled non-conference game for the Seminoles for both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. FSU also visits in-state rival Florida in 2019 and then hosts the Gators in 2020.

As for the Broncos, they are slated to travel to BYU in 2019 and host the Cougars in 2020.

Boise State is 1-1 against the ACC after falling to Boston College 27-21 in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl and then defeating Virginia Tech 33-30 in 2010. Florida State is 1-4 against the MWC (current members), but haven’t played a current member from that conference since 1977.

“We are very excited to add Boise State to our future football schedule,” said Florida State Director of Athletics Randy Spetman. “Boise State has an excellent football program and we feel this will be an out of conference game that will be exciting for fans of both schools and appealing to TV networks.

“Adding the Broncos to our football schedule continues our commitment to bringing top quality opponents to Doak Campbell Stadium. With our neutral site game versus Oklahoma State in 2014, the addition of Pitt and Syracuse to the ACC and now this series, we feel we are putting our football program in the best possible position to compete in the new BCS beginning in 2014.”

“Scheduling a home-and-home series against a perennial top-25 program like Florida State is another step in growing our football program,” Boise State Director of Athletics Mark Coyle stated. “Florida State is a team fans talk about when discussing the top collegiate programs in the country and I know Bronco Nation will be excited about hosting a team like Seminoles in Boise.”

Definately great for college football. It would be nice to see an SEC team do a home and home with Boise State versus playing in the Chik-fil opening day game in Atlanta. Maybe Florida which hasn’t scheduled a road game non conference except against Florida State since 1991 can display some manhood and accept the challenge or continue playing Bowling Green every year.

Hard to talk SEC teams into travelling to Boise when Bronco Stadium holds less than 35,000. But they need to fill their OOC schedule with big boys, as many SEC, B1G, ACC or Pac-12 teams as they can get on the schedule. The bottom half of the MWC provides plenty of soft opponents, they need as much quality in their OOC schedule as they can get.

Good for both schools in this case. Don’t know how good BSU and FSU will be in six years, but any time teams in the top 10 schedule each other, it’s a good thing. Should this series be played, it could end up being one of Boise State’s most challenging non-conference opponents.

Perhaps independent football is alive.

BYU has made a decent go of it, Notre Dame may get hitched to the Catholic 7 and Boise State is getting a schedule to fall back on in case the Wyomings don’t pick up their programs and they need to follow BYU’s lead.

I would prefer to see us back on national tv every week. I don’t think any of us realized how bad it would be without the weekly games on ESPN. That was a huge deal and we need to fix that quick, or go INDY and make a deal with ESPN like BYU.

Boise should try to get a series with Notre Dame like they have with BYU. Throw in a couple Pac-12 opponents like USC and Stanford, and they can use their MWC schedule to continue getting 10+ wins per year. If their OOC schedule is high quality, they can get good mileage by consistently dominating the conference.

this is all well and good for Boise, but it would be nice if they could get a decent nationally rated team to come to Boise before 2020-that is 7 1/2 years from now. They have plenty of open dates between now and then. Washington in 2015 and Virginia in 2017 are nice but both teams have been and continue irrelevant and are only a notch above Wyoming, Colorado State, New Mexico and the MWC weaklings.

Oh wow, another school with an entitlement complex!

Pretty tough talk for a school that’s never even beaten WAZZU in anything, ROFL

Cmon Dawg, that is one commentor flapping his yapper, not a school. Washington and UVa are exactly the caliber of OOC opponents Boise needs more of. Some people don’t know history, Washington won a Rose Bowl and finished with a top-5 ranking within about the last 10 years. And Bronco Stadium isn’t exactly Tuscaloosa, or even Husky Stadium. Top-20 teams have a legitimate excuse for avoiding a trip to Boise when they have a relatively pisswink sized stadium, and it is rarely full even at that. Getting Fla State on the schedule is a coup for Boise.

Following FSU for 40 years and how they made their way into the upper ranks of football has been hard to do. BSU has had the same problems and I am happy to see FSU be the first to travel to their place for a home and home. The Broncos deserve the shot and have earned it. FSU had many of the same problems getting big time schools to come to Tallahasee (70’s-80’s). It tooks FSU 4 straight years traveling to LSU before they came to Tallahasee (FSU went 4-1 vs the Tigers during that time). It’s good for the game and am looking forward to the series. Go Noles! Second thought is the BSU uniforms being the same color as the turf…let them wear the uniform, when the snow covers the field does it give an advantage to the team wearing white on white?

Similarly I was happy to see BYU make the 12-year deal with Boise. BYU had many of Boise’s problems 15 years earlier (and still shares some issues)

Love this deal for us, first long term with BYU now FSU, 2 Nationally recognized teams, it works for me. Can you imagine a home non conference schedule in 2020 with BYU and FSU? LOVE IT!

Relax my friend!I have been Dawg season ticket holder since before you were born. Let’s face reality, the Huskies have had a losing record vs. the MWC for the past 10 years. We have been irrelevant. The damage done by New weasel and Tyrone was devastating. Sark stablized the ship, but we need to competitive again. Scheduling Eastern Washington, Idaho State Hawaii, Georgia State and Montana is now way to build a resume. I hope the new stadium lights a spark and gets UW out of the circle of mediocrity. The lord only knows how painful it has been to watch the hated Ducks thrash us for the past 9 years.

lol, I might be a little older than you think. I grew up in Montlake, pretty much in the shadow of Husky Stadium. On Saturdays when I was a kid out in the yard raking leaves, I could hear the crowd cheering in the distance when the Dawgs did something good. The first game I went to, Sonny Sixkiller was their quarterback. My little Brother was fishing at the Cut the day the Dawgs got revenge on the Ducks 66-0, he came home with a headache from the noise. I live in SoCal now, but I’ll be up there for the Boise game.

I love BSU OOC slate for the next 7 years. They need all the BCS teams they can get. FSU, Oklahoma State, Virginia and BYU are nice. Michigan State is awesome too. It’ll be great if they could get a Texas A&M or Stanford too. It will also be great if BSU can get one more Chik-Fil A Kick-Off game vs another good SEC team, perhaps Florida in maybe 2017 or 2018.
