The Big Ten has announced their 2018 and 2019 conference football schedules. The Big Ten Championship Games will be played on December 1 in 2018 and on December 7 in 2019.

Big Ten teams begin playing a nine-game conference schedule in the 2016 season. Each team will play every other team within its division (six games) plus three teams from the opposite division. The only cross-division protected rivalry is Indiana-Purdue.

East Division teams will have five conference home games during even-numbered years, while West Division teams will have five conference home games during odd-numbered years.

As It reads there is only one protected cross division rivalry but as I look at these schedules for the first four years of the nine game conference schedules each school is playing one other cross-over every year.

Ohio State vs Nebraska
Michigan vs Wisconsin
Michigan State vs Northwestern
Rutgers vs Illinois
Maryland vs Minnesota
Penn State vs Iowa
and of course
Indiana vs Purdue

I had not heard anything about that before.
