Oklahoma, UCLA schedule 2018-19 home-and-home football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Oklahoma Sooners and the UCLA Bruins have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2018 and 2019, both schools announced today.

Oklahoma will host UCLA at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman on Sept. 8, 2018. The Sooners will then travel to face the Bruins at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Sept. 14, 2019.

“We’re delighted to again add UCLA’s tradition-rich program to our schedule,” said OU vice president and director of athletics, Joe Castiglione. “Together, we can showcase two great schools in the kind of intersectional matchup that is so good for college sports. And now our longstanding philosophy of scheduling marquee non-conference opponents becomes even more important with the College Football Playoff beginning in 2014.”

Oklahoma and UCLA have met four times and the Sooners hold a 3-1 lead in the series. In their last meeting in 2003, Oklahoma crushed UCLA 59-24 in Norman.

“Now more than ever, it’s important for UCLA to face marquee non-conference opponents,” said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero. “With Oklahoma Football recognized nationally and the new playoff system beginning next season, this is a great matchup for not only our team, but for our fans as well.”

The Sooners now have future non-conference series set against Tennessee, Ohio State, Nebraska, UCLA, and LSU (see below for update).

UCLA’s future slate continues to improve also. The Bruins have series set against Virginia, Rutgers, Oklahoma, and Michigan, among others.

Oklahoma-LSU 2018-19 Series Postponed

Oklahoma announced in their UCLA release today that they are postponing their 2018-19 home-and-home series with LSU and are “working to re-schedule” the series in later years.

The two schools were set to meet in Norman on Sept. 15, 2018 and in Baton Rouge on Sept. 21, 2019.

Oklahoma to Host Akron and ULM

Oklahoma also announced today the addition of future home games against the Akron Zips and the ULM Warhawks.

The Sooners will host Akron on Sept. 5, 2015 and ULM on Sept. 3, 2016. Both games will be season-openers.

Not sure what you are smoking but USC beat OU 55-19 in the Orange bowl in 2005, OU wasn’t at the Rose Bowl and didn’t play UCLA.

My bad, I didn’t realize UCLA played at Pasedena regularly, I thought you were referring to bowls. Strange that the article didn’t mention the last meeting, being a major upset of the Sooners and all.
