The American Athletic Conference has announced date changes for three games on their 2014 football schedule.

Tulane at Tulsa, the first AAC game of the season, has been moved up two days to Thursday, Aug. 28. Kickoff time and television coverage will be announced at a later date.

Two other games moved involve the Houston Cougars. UH’s season-opener vs. UTSA, which will be the first game at the new Houston Football Stadium, will now be played on Friday, Aug. 29 at 9pm ET and will be broadcast by ESPNews.

Houston’s home game against Temple has been moved up one day to Friday, Oct. 17 and will kickoff at 9pm ET on ESPNU.

Houston will have to compete against Friday night football – something that is huge in Texas. This change will preclude an opening-game sellout in the new stadium.

Almost all the HS teams will kickoff on Sat Aug 30. Many will also play Sat sep 7 before switching to mostly friday nights on sep 13.

Bill is incorrect. For example, the Houston ISD has four games on 8/28, nine games on 8/29 and four games on 8/30. The smaller towns in Texas will almost all play on Friday, 8/29. Where he got his info is a mystery.
