I am sure the SJSU game against Minnesota will be on the Big Ten Network and the Auburn game will make it to the SEC Network….

It would be nice if San Jose St. fans would get off their butts and fill their little stadium. Is it asking too much for 30,000 to show up for a game out of the millions of people who live in the area? You cannot pretend to have a quality program when several Texas high schools have more fans at their games.

You are correct Phil,I do think we will do okay this year. Winning will fill seats and SJSU needs to win this year. Only one game is pretty much a guaranteed loss ( Auburn) but they should compete enough to win just every other game.

SJSU finished at #21 in the BCS rankings in 2012 and had a 11-2 record; yet, they still failed to even remotely fill the stadium. Most games had about 7K fans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_San_Jose_State_Spartans_football_team

The highest home game attendance was just over 15K (barely half the capacity) against BYU…and I think half those fans, if not more, were BYU fans…and SJSU was 8-2 going into that game and receiving votes in the polls.

It’s sad. SJSU is in such a great market and has a 30K+ student body. If they could figure it out, they could be a candidate to raise their TV and recruiting value tremendously and make some noise.

The Roadrunners from UTSA are actually a legitimate contender to make some mid-major noise. They consistently get 25-30K attendance at the Alamodome. They had over 40K attendance last year against Oklahoma St. and 39K in 2012 in the Texas St. rivalry game.

They’ve finished 8-4 and 7-5 the past two seasons. If the Roadrunners start winning in San Antonio, I think you could really see their program improve.

I just don’t see that happening with SJSU, even with success.

San Jose State has no tradition. They’re one of those teams that is out there but a mid-major college team with little/no tradition or history stuck in a major metropolitan area just won’t draw.
