Michigan, Oklahoma schedule 2025-26 football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Michigan Wolverines and the Oklahoma Sooners have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2025 and 2026, both schools announced today.

In the first game of the series, Michigan will travel to face Oklahoma in Norman on Sept. 6, 2025. The Wolverines will then host the Sooners in Ann Arbor on Sept. 12, 2026 Arbor to complete the series.

“We remain committed to playing games that celebrate the history and excitement of college football,” said OU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. “We’re grateful for head coach Bob Stoops, who shares that commitment. Oklahoma and Michigan represent two of the most iconic names in American sport and we look forward to a series that will be marked by mutual respect and admiration.”

In their first and only meeting, Oklahoma defeated Michigan 14-6 in the 1976 Orange Bowl in Miami.

“We are excited to reach an agreement to play Oklahoma, one of the storied programs in college football history,” said Dave Brandon, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. “I appreciate Joe (Castiglione) and his team’s effort to make this series a possibility. Oklahoma and Michigan have always been regarded as two of the top programs in college football, and creating this type of matchup is great for fans of both programs and the game of college football.”

Both schools continue to strengthen their future football schedules with the College Football Playoff just ahead. Michigan now has games set vs. Utah, BYU, UCF, Florida (at Arlington, TX), Cincinnati, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Oklahoma and others.

Oklahoma also has a stellar lineup of future non-conference games, including Tennessee, Ohio State, UCLA, Nebraska, Michigan, and LSU.

I would get excited about this match up but in 10yrs anything can happen to this game.

Big Blue had to go with the backup option after Houston Baptist wouldn’t return their call

After the fiasco in 2006, I doubt OU schedules Oregon any time soon.. haha. Plus I think 2023 & 2024 are when the LSU matchups will be moved for OU.
