The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the USF Bulls have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2021 and 2022, both schools announced today.
Georgia Tech will host USF in the first game of the series at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 11, 2021. The Yellow Jackets will then travel to face the Bulls at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Sept. 10, 2022.
Georgia Tech and USF have never met on the football field.
“Adding USF gives us good regional games against a historically strong program,” Georgia Tech AD Mike Bobinski said. “It continues to solidify our scheduling model of playing quality non-conference opponents, in addition to our eight-game ACC schedule.”
Georgia Tech now has four non-conference opponents scheduled in 2021 and two in 2022. The Jackets open the 2021 season at home vs. Kennesaw State (Sept. 4), host USF, travel to Notre Dame on a date to be announced, and then host Georgia (Nov. 27).
In 2022, Georgia Tech is also scheduled to host Ole Miss in the first game of a home-and-home series that concludes in 2022 in Oxford.
“Georgia Tech has a tremendous college football tradition and the Atlanta area is home to many passionate USF alumni,” USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. “We are very excited as well to host the Yellow Jackets in Tampa, which is another example of the great programs that our heading into our city over the coming years.”
The Bulls now have two games slated for 2021 and three for the 2022 season. In 2021, USF hosts BYU, while in 2022 they open the season vs. Texas before returning the trip to BYU in Provo.
