Texas A&M adds New Mexico State to 2016 Football Schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Texas A&M Aggies have added the New Mexico State Aggies to their 2016 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

Texas A&M will host New Mexico State at Kyle Field in College Station on Oct. 29, 2016. The two schools have never met each other in football.

According to a copy of the contract obtained through an open records request, Texas A&M will pay NMSU a $1.5 million guarantee for the game.

The addition of New Mexico State tentatively completes the 2016 non-conference schedule for Texas A&M. The Aggies are scheduled to open the season with back-to-back games at home against UCLA on Sept. 3 and Louisiana Tech on Sept. 10. A&M later hosts UTSA on Nov. 12.

On Wednesday, Texas A&M announced a future home-and-home football series with the Colorado Buffaloes of the Pac-12. Texas A&M will host Colorado on Sept. 19, 2020 and will travel to Boulder to take on the Buffaloes on Sept. 11, 2021.

The Aggies return a matchup with UCLA in 2017, and they also have future home-and-home series set with Clemson (2018-19) and Notre Dame (2024-25).

New Mexico State has also tentatively completed their 2016 non-conference slate. Other games for NMSU that season include vs. New Mexico (Sept. 10), at San Diego State (Sept. 24), and at UTEP (date TBA).

Why don’t they invite someone like N. Dakota St., or New Hampshire? A&M could pay those teams “only” $600K or so………and it’ll be a better game than NMSU…

They do not want the slightest risk of a challenge. They want as many cupcakes as possible and the less talented , needy schools that do not have deep pockets subsidize their athletic department budgets with these body bag games.

Dave (the poster below) hit the nail on the head. I’m a Buckeye and I hate how we schedule. They are doing a better job in the future. But the past several seasons, we’ve filled up on cupcakes and only play 1 P5 school per year. I’d LOVE a home-and-home with Texas A&M. It would be a great series for each school.

Programs who have completed scheduling for 2016 and are without a P5 program on the 2015 schedule:
Baylor, Kansas, Miss St*, Wash St#, Utah*, Maryland$, Purdue, Air Force

Programs without a P5 program on the 2016 schedule who have yet to complete scheduling for 2016:
Arizona*, Kansas St, Boston College, Toledo, NIU^

* scheduled BYU
# scheduled Boise St
$ scheduled UCF
^ might play Boston College (2016 or 2017)

Texas A&M cancelled the Oregon series. Aggies afraid to play above the 45th parallel.

Kudos to LSU and Tennessee for their ability to travel.

Texas A&M doesn’t recruit the Carolinas. Taking it up the ass from Oregon means national attention. Getting trucked by Clemson would not resonate anywhere else in the US beyond the Trailer Park belt.

Ags cancelled the Oregon series because they couldn’t agree on the home and home schedule. Ags and Ducks needed a home game on the same year, and couldn’t make it happen.

Cal schedules UC Davis and Cal Poly and no one says a word. A&M schedules New Mexico State and the world ends.

Thank God for the SEC. I’d hate to see what some of you people would be like if you couldn’t direct your hatred and anger towards them.

Say it ain’t so Joe, you think people are bashing A&M’s non-conference schedule and letting Cal slip by with UC Davis and Cal Poly? I haven’t directly bashed any conference, but I think the SEC could be an easy target and this A&M game against New Mexico State doesn’t help the cause. You mentioned Cal’s game against UC Davis and Cal Poly, well looking at each I see it fits well with Cal’s 3 game NC Schedule; Cal in 2019 has UC Davis, San Jose State and away at Ole Miss, In 2020 they have TCU, Cal Poly, and away at Auburn (Please note 3 P5 games and 2 away games in 6 games scheduled). For Texas A&M their NC schedule for 2016 now reads; UCLA, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, and UT San Antonio (Please note all home games and 1 P5 game). Yes, I think who ever is bashing the SEC non-conference schedules can continue. Facts are Facts.

Why wait any longer let’s bring back the lone star showdown back to the Aggies vs longhorns.
