Every SEC school is guaranteed at least one CBS televised game every three years within the rules of the television contract. My guess is Vanderbilt wasn’t on any last season and is most likely due a game this year on CBS and the most attractive option would be an early one just in case their season goes south quickly.

Vanderbilt was on CBS in 2013 against UGA, so if it is only once every 3 years, there was no official need to pick my ‘Dores this year, especially when they should be a solid team next year. CBS must either not have had the first pick of games that week or be banking on us being better than last year (which, we realistically will be at least a little bit).

I suspect ESPN still has first pick on 9/5 and 9/12, since these two weeks were not part of the original SEC TV contract (they would be pre-empted by CBS’ coverage of the US Open).

What exactly does CBS have on Saturday evening that they’re not running 3 of these games each and every Saturday?

The contract that CBS has with the SEC allows them one SEC game a week and CBS has their first choice of any SEC game each week. The contract also states that CBS will get three times a year to televise two games on the same weekend. All three weekends that CBS will televise two games are in the month of November this season. ESPN and the SEC Network have the rights to all the other SEC games.

CBS *could* show some random CBSSN game on the Eye if they really wanted (and which they do for things like some service academy games), but the local affiliates probably wouldn’t want to sacrifice their local news for a random Mountain West conference game. That’s where the affiliates really make their money.

For 2015, CBS has sub-licensed the first two games from ESPN. They did not have first choice for Sept 5 or Sept 12. Those are the Louisville vs. Auburn game on 9/5 and the Georgia at Vanderbilt game on 9/12.The SEC says these two games do not count towards any CBS contract appearance. Therefore, we have the expanded schedule for this season on CBS.

Cbs should have made a doubleheader on rivalry week. I am sure they will televise the iron bowl but why not also televise Clem at SC. That could be the last game for the Old ball coach so I know people will want to see it. Clemson could also be contending for a playoff spot.

They broadcast a game on Friday and Saturday that weekend (that’s two games)

Games on different days don’t count as a doubleheader but since you brought it up I will say that a nationally televised Friday afternoon showing would be even better.

The state of Alabama had their time in the spotlight two years ago and the state of Mississippi had theirs last year. Why not the palmetto state this season?
I can’t remember the last time CBS showed SC/CLEM. They show UGA/GT and UF/FSU all the time but for some reason they never show the SC schools against each other.

Tennessee needs to have some of their games on CBS. In 2013, their games against Florida, Georgia, and Alabama was televised on CBS. But last season, none of their games was televised not one single game. Why?

But here is the thing, 2012 the vols finished 4-8 but they still let the vols play three games on the sec on cbs in 2013. In 2013, the vols finished 5-7. The vols had to of had at least one game from the 2014 season. Maybe Alabama or Georgia just saying.

Could all you Arkansas Fans please leave your fishing poles at home when attending road games.Fishing in other university fountains is prohibited,,,Thanks.

I love it that we get to play LSU in Baton Rouge during the day, that’s rare but awesome for us. War Damn Eagle!

Why not show the Tennessee vs Georgia or the Tennessee vs Arkansaw or the Tennessee vs South Carolina Games
