UTSA Completes 2016 Non-Conference Football Schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The UTSA Roadrunners have completed their 2016 non-conference football schedule with the addition of the Alabama State Hornets.

UTSA will host Alabama State at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on Sept. 3, 2016. Alabama State officially announced the first-ever matchup between the two schools Tuesday afternoon.

Alabama State is the fourth and final non-conference games for UTSA in 2016, notwithstanding any last minute changes.

After hosting Alabama State in the season-opener, the Roadrunners hit the road to take on the Colorado State Rams on Sept. 10. UTSA then returns home to host the Arizona State Sun Devils one week later on Sept. 17.

The final non-conference game of the 2016 season for UTSA is a Nov. 12 matchup in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies.

UTSA, currently a member of Conference USA, began playing football in 2011. Head coach Larry Coker has led the Roadrunners to a 23-23 overall record in five seasons.

That’s a pretty good non-conference schedule for UTSA. Alabama State looks like the easy win, but there’s a good balance of road and home games against three good teams, Colorado State, Texas A&M, and Arizona State. The UTSA fans I’m sure are looking forward to these games.

Yeah, Shep, this 2016 schedule is a much needed break after the beat down of the 2015 sched. Still some tough teams in there, but at least there are some breaks in there.
