Utah State announces 2016 Non-Conference Football Schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Utah State Aggies have completed their 2016 non-conference football schedule, Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced on Thursday.

Utah State will open the 2016 season at home in Romney Stadium in Logan vs. Weber State on Thursday, Sept. 1. The two schools have met 14 times and the Aggies hold a 13-1 advantage in the series.

The following week on Sept. 10, Utah State travels to Los Angeles to take on USC. In their last meeting in 2013, Utah State came up just short, falling to the Trojans 17-14

Utah State returns home on Sept. 17 to host the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The game is the second of a home-and-home series that began in Jonesboro last season. A-State won that game 21-14 to tie the overall series at three games each.

The final non-conference game of the season is also the last regular-season game for the Aggies. Utah State travels to Provo on Nov. 26 to face in-state rival BYU. The Aggies won there last season 35-20, but still trail in the series 35-46-3.

“Our schedule next season is consistent with our on-going scheduling philosophy,” said Hartwell. “We always want to have six home games, including a home game against a regional Football Championship Series (FCS) opponent. We will also look at one guarantee road game each season and continue our home and home relationship with longtime in-state rival BYU.”
