Charlotte, Maryland Schedule 2022-23 Football Series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Charlotte 49ers and the Maryland Terrapins have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2022 and 2023, FBSchedules.com has learned via an open records request to UNCC.

Charlotte will host Maryland in the first game of the series at Jerry Richardson Stadium on Sept. 10, 2022. The matchup will also be the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron. The following season on Sept. 9, 2023, the 49ers will travel to take on the Terrapins at Maryland Stadium in College Park.

Charlotte started their football program in 2013 and they just completed their first season as a full member of the Football Bowl Subdivision in Conference USA.

The 49ers now have three non-conference games scheduled for both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In 2022, Charlotte is also set to visit Georgia State on Sept. 7 and Indiana on Oct. 1. In 2023, they host Georgia State on Sept. 16 and again visit Indiana on Sept. 23.

The two games against Charlotte are the first non-conference games announced for the Maryland Terrapins for both seasons.

Shame Maryland could not have worked out a H&H with a former North Carolina based rival, instead of Charlotte’s start-up program.

Another nice addition to the 49ers’ schedule along with UNC and Duke.

If Maryland is ever going to upgrade their program, they need to stop playing these cupcake non-conference programs. No wonder the top athletes by-pass this team and attendance is always poor. I guess Maryland doesn’t have the desire to fill the stands and they don’t care about having the best possible program. This has always been the case over the last 25 years.
A suggestion to Maryland! Get out of the Big Ten and go to division 2 football, you just might win a few games.

There out of conference schedule is not bad at all. Each year they play a Power 5 team (every other year being away), they play a strong Group of 5 team, and a weaker Group of 5 team. All of that is in addition to playing 9 conference games in one of the best divisions in football.

If you’re complaining, you should look at the SEC’s conference schedules, especially the SEC West.

Having to play MSU, OSU, UM, and PSU every year is a pretty good reason to want to get a few cupcakes. I’m surprised they didn’t make this a 2-for-1, myself.

After the beating Marshall put on Maryland in the Military Bowl. They are too p**** to give us a call back for a H and H. We should be playing this year but of course they turned us down
