The Georgia State Panthers and the North Carolina Tar Heels have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2021 and 2022, GSU announced today.
In the first game of the series, Georgia State will travel to face North Carolina at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill on Sept. 11, 2021. The Panthers will then host the Tar Heels in Atlanta on Sept. 10, 2022.
The 2021 contest will be the first meeting between Georgia State and North Carolina on the gridiron.
Yesterday, Georgia State announced a future home-and-home series with the Vanderbilt Commodores. GSU will host Vandy on Sept. 28, 2024 and will visit Nashville on Sept. 20, 2025.
The addition of the series with UNC completes Georgia State’s non-conference schedule in 2021 and gives them three games in 2022. Other games slated for 2021 include home games vs. Army and Charlotte and a trip to Auburn.
In 2022, Georgia State is slated to host Charlotte again and travel to Army.
North Carolina now has three non-conference opponents set for the 2021 season and two for 2022. In 2021, the Tar Heels are also slated to host Wake Forest in a non-ACC game and travel to Notre Dame. UNC is scheduled to host Notre Dame in 2022.

UNC, Pitt, Clemson, and GT are the only four ACC schools to play ten P5 opponents in both 2015 and 2016. I get that the Heels are playing TWO FCS schools in both seasons, but there are reasons that those things happened. Most schools play the one…getting stuck with the second is bad especially for two years in a row. But again, there are reasons for the late additions. All four of those schools play ten P5 opponents again in 2017. Probably four of the only schools in America who do this. I would never criticize Clemson or GT for the way they schedule in the OOC, yet inevitably some knucklehead also mentions the FCS game that each plays each year as it that makes them special or that it negates the ten LOSEABLE games that are on the schedule. It’s mind-numbingly obtuse. Social media will be the downfall of mankind…
