By Kevin Kelley -

The Texas A&M Aggies have added the Abilene Christian Wildcats to their 2020 football schedule, according to an announcement from ACU on Wednesday.

Texas A&M will host Abilene Christian at Kyle Field in College Station on Nov. 21, 2020. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Abilene Christian moved up to the Football Championship Subdivision from Division II in 2014 and is now a member of the Southland Conference. Last season, they finished the season 3-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

ACU now has eight games against against FBS opponents lined up for future seasons: at Air Force (Sept. 3, 2016), at New Mexico (Sept. 2, 2017), at Colorado State (Sept. 9, 2017), at Baylor (Sept. 1, 2018), at North Texas (Aug. 31, 2019), at Mississippi State (Oct. 12, 2019), at Texas A&M (Nov. 21, 2020), and at SMU (Sept. 4, 2021).

Texas A&M now has three non-conference games scheduled for the 2020 season. The Aggies are also slated to host North Texas on Sept. 12 and Colorado on Sept. 19.

In conference play in 2020, Texas A&M will host Arkansas (at Arlington, TX), LSU, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt and will travel to Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, and South Carolina.

Just how much longer can the SEC stay with a regular season schedule of only 9 games with P5 teams? I do not care if they are in conference or OOC? In 2016 in the SEC only UGA will play 10 games with P5 teams.

In 2017 the SEC teams which will play 10 games with P5 teams include Florida, UGA LSU ( I am willing to consider BYU as a P5 opponent. When Syracuse is the other OOC game well lets not get carried away) USC. That is it for the SEC teams currently scheduled to play two OOC games with P5 teams.

Actually, two more SEC teams — the division champions — will play 10 P5 games, unless Georgia is one of them.

Actually, the college football playoff committee has determined over the last two years that the level a particular school is at matters less than who you actually play. See, they realize that Kansas is a Power Five team, but are actually worse than many Non-Power Five teams and even some FCS teams. If nine conference games mattered, the Big 12 wouldn’t be trying to figure out how to stage a conference championship game with just ten teams.

The fact is A&M will play more NFL level players in eight conference games than teams in other conferences will face all year long.

Good point, that is why teams like Kansas, Vandy, Wake Forest, Illinois, Cal & many others that don’t really compete for a conference championship never get RAGED on by others cause the committee knows its a long shot for them to even to win their conference. I say let them get some extra wins & go to a bowl game, its not hurting anything.

What a joke of a schedule. They start losing their share of SEC games and figure they have to get wins somehow.

Kind of surprised they didn’t schedule McMurry.

yea, playing against Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Miss St and Ole Miss in the same division is a joke. Lol!

That doesn’t excuse them from playing no one of relevance outside the conference. SEC fans have to stop thinking that their conference schedule alone is sufficient to get them into the national playoffs.

Further by 2020, the SEC West may have 3 or 4 teams that are rather lousy. There is no guarantee those schools will be winning 4 years from now. But, Abilene Christian will still be a Div I-AA school then. It is what it is. You can’t justify it.

Hawaii Dave tell us how great your team is and how their conf teams schedule are better than the SEC.
