Ole Miss adds 11 opponents to future football schedules

The Ole Miss Rebels have added 11 opponents to their future football schedules, FBSchedules.com has learned.

Copies of contracts for all 11 opponents were obtained by FBSchedules.com from the University of Mississippi via a public records request.

Each opponent added is a single home game for the Ole Miss Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford. Four of the opponents are FBS teams, while seven opponents are from the FCS.

FBS teams added include Kent State, Georgia Southern, Troy, and Tulsa. FCS teams lined up include Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Mercer, Furman, and The Citadel.

Below is additional information on each opponent added by season.

2018

Ole Miss will host the Southern Illinois Salukis on Sept. 8, 2018. The Salukis will receive a $450,000 guarantee for the game.

The Kent State Golden Flashes will visit Oxford on Sept. 22, 2018. Kent State will receive a $1.5 million guarantee.

These two games tentatively complete Ole Miss’ schedule in 2018. The Rebels are scheduled to open the season vs. Texas Tech on Sept. 1 (in Houston, TX) and later host ULM on Oct. 6, 2018.

2020

Ole Miss is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 5 vs. Baylor in Houston, Texas.

The Rebels have added games against the Georgia Southern Eagles for Sept. 12 and the Southeast Missouri Redhawks for Sept. 19. Georgia Southern will receive a $1.4 million guarantee, while Southeast Missouri will earn $450,000.

Ole Miss needs one more game to complete their 2020 non-conference schedule.

2021

Ole Miss previously had one non-conference game scheduled for 2021: a home game vs. Tulane on Sept. 18.

Now the Rebels have two with the addition of a season-opening game against the Austin Peay Governors on Sept. 4. Austin Peay will receive a $500,000 guarantee.

2022

Ole Miss has added three opponents to their 2022 non-conference football schedule: Troy on Sept. 3 ($1.5 million), Central Arkansas on Sept. 10 ($475,000), and Tulsa on Sept. 24 ($1.45 million).

The Rebels are also scheduled to travel to Georgia Tech on Sept. 17.

2023

Ole Miss has added a game against the Mercer Bears on Sept. 2, 2023. The Bears will receive a $500,000 guarantee for the game.

Previously scheduled games for Ole Miss in 2023 include at Tulane on Sept. 9 at vs. Georgia Tech on Sept. 16.

2024

The Furman Paladins will take on Ole Miss in Oxford on Aug. 31, 2024. The Rebels will pay the Paladins a $500,000 guarantee.

Ole Miss’ only other scheduled opponent for 2024 is a game at Wake Forest on Sept. 14.

2025

Ole Miss will host The Citadel Bulldogs on Aug. 30,2025. The Citadel will receive a $500,000 guarantee for the game.

The Rebels have two other non-conference games already scheduled for 2025: vs. Wake Forest on Sept. 13 and vs. Tulane on Sept. 20.

WHY BOTHER TO EXPAND-ESPECIALLY WITH STIFF PENALTIES AND LOSING SEC RECORD IN THE FUTURE

Um, not sure what you are yelling about…..Regardless they still have to play 12 games a season, which has to include a power five team.
