UTSA to open 2019 season vs. Incarnate Word

The UTSA Roadrunners will open the 2019 football season vs. the Incarnate Word Cardinals, according to the official athletics website of UIW.

UTSA will host Incarnate Word at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on Aug. 31, 2019. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

The Roadrunners now have three non-conference games scheduled for the 2019 season. Also on the docket are in-state trips to Baylor on Sept. 7 and Texas A&M on Nov. 2.

Like UTSA, the University of the Incarnate Word is also located in San Antonio. The Cardinals compete in the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Incarnate Word now has five future games scheduled against FBS teams. In addition to UTSA, the Cardinals are scheduled to travel to Fresno State in 2018, New Mexico and North Texas in 2019, and Baylor in 2020.

Good to see stories about schools at all level of play. Some people have interest in the game not just certain high money programs.

I think it will depend on competitive they get between now and then…..UIW is still pretty young as a program….I see them drawing their fair share of heads…..
